The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reassigned all four of its deputy governors in a significant leadership reshuffle designed to strengthen coordination across key departments and support the institution’s evolving priorities.

According to a report by Channels Television, the redeployments took effect on June 1, 2026, and were reflected in updated profiles published on the apex bank’s official website.

Under the changes, Philip Ikeazor takes over the Policy Directorate, a portfolio previously overseen by Dr Muhammad Abdullahi. Abdullahi has been moved to head the Corporate Services Directorate.

The restructuring also sees Emem Usoro, formerly Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services, reassigned to the Operations Directorate. Meanwhile, Lamido Yuguda moves from Operations to the Financial System Stability Directorate.

The CBN said the redeployment is intended to enhance collaboration across strategic departments and better align leadership responsibilities with the bank’s current objectives.

Explaining the rationale for the changes, the apex bank stated that the exercise would help “make use of the experience of senior officials in different areas of responsibility and to support evolving institutional priorities.”

The move comes as the CBN continues efforts to strengthen its operations and pursue key policy goals aimed at supporting Nigeria’s financial system and broader economic objectives.
