Squadron Leader Ahamefule Aham Man-Ugwueje, one of the pilots killed in the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State, died just two weeks after his wedding.
Man-Ugwueje married Flight Lieutenant Damilola Adekunle in an elaborate ceremony in Abuja on September 19, 2026, according to details from the wedding invitation and posts shared by vendors involved in the ceremony.

The couple held their Holy Matrimony at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, The Masters Place, in Utako, Abuja, while the reception took place at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro.

The wedding videographer, Beejay Creates, also shared photographs and footage from the ceremony, identifying the couple as bride Damilola and groom Ahamefule.

Man-Ugwueje was among the five crew members aboard the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft, NAF 931, which crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday.
The aircraft had 25 people on board, comprising five crew members and 20 passengers. The Nigerian Air Force later confirmed that all 25 occupants died in the crash.

The Air Force identified Man-Ugwueje as the co-pilot of the aircraft, which was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it crashed.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the accident as a deeply painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force and the nation, while extending condolences to the victims’ families, loved ones and colleagues.

The Nigerian Air Force has ordered a comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Earlier, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said no survivor had been found at the crash site despite search efforts involving security personnel, emergency responders and local residents.
According to the governor, residents across the river from the Nigerian Navy base in Igbokoda heard a loud sound before seeing the aircraft dive into a swampy area.

The Nigerian Navy, local emergency officials, Amotekun personnel and residents subsequently joined efforts to locate and recover victims from the crash site.
