The Nigerian military has reported that 103 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were killed in seven air strikes targeting terrorist positions and logistics facilities across Adamawa and Borno states between 10 and 18 October 2026.
The operations were conducted by the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, as part of sustained efforts to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their supply chains and restrict their movements across the region.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operations involved Nigerian Army Aviation, the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (NARPAS) Regiment and Air Component assets.
Seven Air Strikes Target Terrorist Positions
The military said the strikes targeted locations around Gudumbali and Mairari in Guzamala Local Government Area, Badu in Monguno Local Government Area, and an area east of Badu in Borno State.
Another strike was conducted at Duste Uku in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State on 16 October.
The campaign culminated in a precision strike on 18 October against an alternative residence reportedly used by Abu Saleem, identified by the military as the ISWAP Wali of South Lake Chad, in the Arina Woje area of Monguno, Borno State.
The military said intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance activities provided the information used to identify the target.
Subsequent human intelligence reportedly confirmed the deaths of Jindullah, described as a prominent ISWAP fighter and Abu Saleem’s chief security guard, and Abul Kissa, a member of the group’s Shura Council.
The strike also destroyed the targeted structure and logistics assets, including nine boat engines and several motorcycles stored at the premises.
According to the military, the operation disrupted the group’s concealment arrangements in the forested area and weakened its ability to use the location as a safe haven.
Strike Kills About 30 Terrorists Near Monguno
The military also reported a significant operation on 13 October, when an aerial surveillance asset tracked 16 terrorists from the Mairari axis to a gathering of more than 100 suspected fighters accompanied by several motorcycles.
The gathering was located approximately 23 kilometres east of Badu and 19 kilometres west of Monguno Local Government Area in Borno State.
A subsequent precision strike reportedly killed about 30 terrorists, although the military said the extent of the damage to the motorcycles could not be confirmed.
Other operations targeted terrorist fighters and facilities around Gudumbali, Badu, Mairari and Duste Uku.
The military said the seven strikes collectively resulted in the reported deaths of 103 terrorists and the destruction of several logistics hubs and storage facilities.
Military Vows to Sustain Counter-Terrorism Operations
Operation HADIN KAI said the operations reflected continued pressure on terrorist concentrations, leadership structures and logistics networks across the North-East theatre.
The military attributed the reported successes to coordination among Nigerian Army Aviation, the NARPAS Regiment, the Air Component and ground forces.
It added that the operations would continue as part of efforts to disrupt terrorist activities, deny armed groups safe havens and restore lasting peace and security across the North-East.
The figures and operational assessments were provided by the military in a statement reported by Channels Television on 20 October 2026.
