Tunji-Ojo applauded For His Achievements In 100 Days as Minister Of Interior

Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has been described as a focused and visionary leader that has achieved and surpassed in 100 days what his immediate predecessor could not achieve in eight years.

Alhaji Ibrahim Katsina, a former Special Adviser on Security Matters made this accolades in an interactive session with reporters in Katsina on Tuesday.

Katsina said “actually, he should be celebrated as a shining example for others to emulate”, adding that, for clearing over 200,000 international backlog met in office, the minister should be celebrated.

“This is what should be celebrated, instead of promoting hate and desperation. He is giving hope where there is none”.

He said part of his achievement in 100 days include, collaborating with the private sector to raise over N500 million naira fines owed by over 4,000 of inmates to set them free this, decongested the Correctional centres.

Similarly, the minister within the period under review, he maintained introduced technology in the security of the borders and E-gate at the international airports, reducing physical contacts with immigration officers.

The former Security boss added that, infact the minister has demonstrated that, the interior ministry is not just about declaring public holidays, adding that, the automation of Nigeria’s passport application is 99 percent completed.

“With people like him, Nigeria will move to greater heights. This shows that a focused leader is what Nigeria needs, no matter who he is or where he comes from”, he posited, appealing to other ministers in the cabinet to watch and learn from the commendable actions of their colleague of the interior ministry.

Abuja building collapse, five dead, 10 rescued as search continues

A three-storey building under construction has collapsed in the Durumi 3 area near Abuja, leaving at least five people dead and 10 rescued alive, according to Punch Newspaper.   The incident happened on Saturday morning near Gudu Market, with emergency workers continuing efforts to reach people believed to still be trapped under the rubble. The report was first published by Punch, citing officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.   According to the FCTA, rescue teams recovered five bodies from the collapsed structure, while 10 survivors were pulled out alive. Search operations remained ongoing as responders combed through debris at the construction site in the Gudu district.   The statement was issued by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to Nyesom Wike, who confirmed the scale of the incident and said additional victims may still be under the wreckage.   The FCT Mandate Secretary of Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Adedolapo Fasawe, visited the scene and said Wike had directed that all injured victims receive free medical treatment. Emergency teams including the Federal Fire Service, security agencies, health workers and local volunteers were seen at the site as residents gathered anxiously nearby.   Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the collapse, while rescue operations continue.
