Bye-Election: Voting begins in Lagos

Accreditation and voting have commenced in the bye-election for Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Lagos State.

There was early arrival of election officials and commencement of voting in some Polling Units.

So far, few voters have turned out for the voting process. The atmosphere is calm as officials have taken charge of the exercise.

The constituency seat became vacant due to the resignation of the former occupant, Femi Gbajabiamila, who after winning, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff.

Surulere Federal Constituency 1, according to INEC, consists of six Electoral wards with 258 polling units.

The Nation observed that policemen and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have taken position to ensure a peaceful electoral process around the polling units.
