JUST IN: Tinubu approves appointment of Enyiekere as NASC chairman, 12 others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as the chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), marking a significant step in strengthening the administration of Nigeria’s legislative body.

 

This was contained in a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.

 

Enyiekere, an environmental specialist and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, will serve a five-year renewable term.

In addition to the chairman’s appointment, President Tinubu also approved the selection of 12 commission members, with two representatives drawn from each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The appointed members are:

 

North West: Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and Hon. Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka

North East: Aminu Ibrahim Malle and Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud

North Central: Mark Hanmation Tersoo and Salihu Umar Agboola Balogun

South West: Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Hon. Afeez Ipeza-Balogun

South East: Hon. Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu and Festus Ifesinachi Odii

South-South: Patrick A. Giwa and Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong

 

Like the chairman, the newly appointed members will serve for a renewable term of five years.

 

Their roles will be critical in overseeing the administrative functions of the National Assembly and ensuring the smooth operation of its activities.

 

The appointments reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing governance and ensuring that key institutions within Nigeria’s democracy are staffed with experienced and capable individuals.
