Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns over renewed killings in Plateau State, accusing the Federal Government of failing to protect citizens from escalating violence.

According to LEADERSHIP News, Atiku described the attacks in Barkin Ladi LGA as part of a “recurring pattern of coordinated terror attacks” targeting vulnerable communities.

In a statement issued through his aide, Phrank Shaibu, the former PDP presidential candidate condemned reports that suspected attackers stormed the Nding Susut community, killed residents, and later returned to attack mourners gathered for a mass burial.

Atiku criticised what he called the government’s slow response to distress calls and faulted security agencies for failing to secure communities repeatedly affected by violence.

He also accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of lacking a coherent counterterrorism strategy, saying Nigerians are “tired of condolences without protection.”

The former vice president further referenced previous attacks in Plateau and alleged that over 2,500 people were killed in the state between 2023 and 2025, warning that reactive measures alone would not end the crisis.

Atiku called on federal and state authorities to adopt a proactive, intelligence-driven security framework to prevent future attacks and restore peace in the state.
