Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and several strategic police formations across Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and advance ongoing police reforms.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the deployment received the approval of the Police Service Commission and is aimed at improving leadership across commands, enhancing intelligence-led policing and boosting service delivery.
The newly appointed state Commissioners of Police are:
Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo – Abia
Ayodeji Faniyan – Plateau
Saka Adewale Ajao – Bayelsa
Ajo Geoffrey Ordue – Cross River
Nanna Oji Ama – Anambra
Patrick Daaor – Edo
Tani Murtala – Jigawa
Samuel Erale – Delta
The Inspector-General also approved the posting of several commissioners to strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development, the Police Academy and the Police Staff College.
Among the key appointments are Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Force Criminal Investigation Department as CP INTERPOL, Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to the Department of Finance and Administration and Department of Training and Development, Uduak Ita Otu to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Lagos, Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf to the General Investigation section of the FCID, Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit and Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration.
Other senior officers affected include Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Rita Oyintare Oki, Nelson Nwamana and Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who were assigned to various training institutions and FCID formations nationwide.
Disu urged the newly deployed commissioners to apply their experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism and deepening community engagement.
He also charged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining the highest standards of discipline, accountability and service delivery.
The Nigeria Police Force said the redeployment is part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening internal capacity and improving policing services across the country.
