Apostle Joshua Aghasedo of Powerline Church has said the use of sex toys by married couples is not a sin, arguing that the devices can assist spouses in their intimate life.
Speaking to his congregation in a video shared on the church’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, Aghasedo compared sex toys with everyday equipment such as cars and phones.
He said the devices could help couples improve their intimate experience, while stressing that his comments applied specifically to married couples.
Aghasedo said he had never personally used a sex toy but had previously recommended one to a married couple after considering their circumstances.
According to him, such devices could help couples maintain intimacy and potentially prevent problems within a marriage.
The clergyman, however, drew a distinction between using sex toys within marriage and using them individually.
He said individual use amounted to masturbation, which he described as fornication within his religious interpretation.
Aghasedo’s comments come amid continuing religious and cultural debate in Nigeria over the use of sex toys. While some faith leaders oppose their use, others focus on whether they are used within marriage.
