A section of the Sokoto Central Market was gutted by fire on Sunday night, destroying several shops, goods and other valuables.
The fire reportedly started at about 8:30 p.m., with firefighters working to contain the blaze while residents joined efforts to put it out and salvage goods from affected shops.
The cause of the fire had not been established as of Monday, while no official statement had been issued by the relevant authorities.
The blaze was still burning when the report was filed.
