The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, has regained his freedom after spending 61 days in captivity.
According to Channels Television, Abdullahi was released alongside other victims abducted during the attack on his residence in Bungudu town.
The local government chairman was abducted on July 25, 2026, when bandits reportedly attacked his residence.
A family source told Channels Television that Abdullahi and the other victims had been released, although details surrounding their release were not immediately disclosed.
As of the time of the report, the Zamfara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement confirming the release.
The development comes amid continued concerns over abductions and insecurity in parts of Zamfara State.
