The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has extended the application period for its initial public offering (IPO) by two weeks, giving more investors across Africa additional time to participate.
The company announced the extension on Monday, following approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The offer, which opened on September 14, 2026, was initially scheduled to close on October 13. The new deadline is Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
According to the company, the extension follows strong interest from eligible investors across African countries and international markets.
The IPO comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 per share.
Dangote Says IPO Subscriptions Exceed Fundraising Target
President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said the offer had attracted subscriptions worth more than three or four times the amount the company initially intended to raise.
Speaking to journalists at the refinery, Dangote explained that the extension was primarily aimed at increasing the number of people who could participate, rather than raising additional funds.
“We will extend the closing date because we want more of our African brothers and sisters to participate,” he said.
Dangote added that discussions with the Nairobi Stock Exchange had helped identify ways to facilitate participation and that the company was working to replicate similar arrangements with other African exchanges.
He said expanding access to investors across the continent remained a key priority for the offer.
Extension to Support Cross-Border Investment
The company said the additional two weeks would support ongoing efforts to expand access to the IPO across African markets.
These initiatives include widening distribution channels and introducing unsponsored depository receipt programmes to make cross-border investments easier.
The extension will also give prospective investors more time to complete account-opening procedures, identity verification and other regulatory requirements.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, David Bird, welcomed the SEC’s approval, saying it would allow more investors across Africa to participate.
He said the company’s ambition from the outset had been to give as many people as possible the opportunity to invest in the business and share in its future growth.
The company said it remained encouraged by investor and expected the extension to broaden participation among retail, institutional and cross-border investors.
