Senate: Why I want to occupy Ifeanyi Ubah’s vacant seat – Prince Nwafor Orizu

Onwa Nwafor Orizu, son of Nigeria’s first senate president, has declared his intention to contest for Anambra South senatorial election billed for January, 2025.

The vacuum was created following the demise of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who was buried recently in Nnewi, Anambra state.

In a ceremony at his Otolo-Nnewi country home, weekend, Prince Orizu, Abuja based business mogul, said he is fit and experienced to occupy the vacant position, having closely followed the political journey of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, and that of his father, who was Nigeria’s senate president in the first republic.

He said, “Sen. Ubah has laid a big foundation in the senate, and it’s a person like me, who has been his follower that can continue from where he stopped; so that the light he put in place will continue to shine.

“Our late senator, Ubah, was before his demise, doing wonderfully well for his senatorial zone, and we all felt his robust representation at the red chamber. So, I have decided to complete the works he started for my people.”

Orizu, who is contesting on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), noted that his major plan for Anambra South senatorial zone is to continue where distinguished senator, Ubah stopped; especially in improving the security situation of Anambra state, as Ubah did.

“I have consulted stakeholders in the 7 local government areas in the senatorial zone, and their responses are positive.

“I assure the people of Anambra South senatorial district that I will not allow the light turned on by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to die,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by many political stakeholders in Anambra South and beyond; as well as stakeholders and stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra South.
