Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has claimed that the recently convicted IPOB leader has been moved from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS) to Sokoto prison.

Ejimakor disclosed this on Friday in a post on his X account.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment on counts one, two, four, five and six; 20 years on count three with no option of fine; and five years on count seven, also without an option of fine.

Speaking to reporters after the ruling, Ejimakor stated that Kanu would pursue the appeal.

“We are heading to appeal,” he said.

In a recent development, Ejimakor claimed that the IPOB leader has been moved to Sokoto correctional facility, far away from his lawyers, family and loved ones.

“MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and wellwishers,” Ejimakor wrote.

Continuing, the lawyer criticized to send Kanu to Sokoto prison while drawing parallel lines with other past Nigerian leaders, noting “Tinubu can still halt this drift.”
