Self-styled relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, widely known as Blessing CEO, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦13 million fraud case.
The EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 brought a six-count charge before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, accusing her of obtaining money by false pretence and retaining proceeds of alleged unlawful activity.
Prosecutors alleged that donations were raised from members of the public after claims that she was battling Stage 4 breast cancer and required financial assistance for treatment. The EFCC further stated that individuals and organisations, including the Nigeria Cancer Society, submitted petitions leading to investigations.
According to the agency, evidence reviewed during the investigation indicated that medical documents presented to support the claims were allegedly falsified. It also alleged that about ₦13 million was obtained through the fundraising exercise and retained.
The case adds to existing legal proceedings involving the defendant in Lagos courts. On Tuesday, she was also arraigned before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja over an alleged ₦69.15 million fraud relating to a property transaction. In a separate matter, she has been granted bail in connection with another alleged ₦36 million fraud case.
She has pleaded not guilty in the ongoing proceedings. The court has scheduled further hearings across the different cases between June and July 2026.
