Nigeria’s Falconets have stormed into the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after thrashing New Caledonia 10-1 in Poland.   The emphatic victory at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź saw the Falconets produce a dominant attacking display, scoring four goals before half-time and adding six more after the break. Ramotalahi Kareem opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute before Rebecca Adegbemile doubled Nigeria’s lead two minutes later. Seimeyeha Akekoromowei made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute, while Kareem struck again in the 27th minute to give Nigeria a four-goal advantage at the interval. The Falconets continued their onslaught after the restart, with Winner David scoring in the 60th minute. Kareem completed her hat-trick four minutes later before David added another in the 75th minute. Tosin Rafiu and Adegbemile also got on the scoresheet as Nigeria extended their advantage, with Adegbemile scoring her second of the match. New Caledonia pulled one back through Joceline Kourevi in the 89th minute, but David completed her hat-trick a minute later to seal Nigeria’s 10-1 victory. The result moved the Falconets into second place in Group F and secured their qualification for the knockout stage. Nigeria had entered the final group game with only one point after a 2-0 defeat to Spain and a goalless draw against China. The Falconets will now face England in the round of 16 as they continue their campaign at the tournament. Spain finished top of Group F with nine points and had already secured qualification for the last 16.
