The Fulani community leaders in Nigeria have reiterated their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu and his administration.

They urged Nigerians to be patient with the government, assuring that positive outcomes of all the efforts aimed at repositioning the country will soon begin to materialize.

While urging President Tinubu to reciprocate the substantial support provided by the Fulanis during his victory in the 2023 presidential polls, the ethnic group’s traditional and spiritual leaders nationwide, Ardos pleaded with the president to intervene and address the alleged profiling of the Fulani community by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

They warned that such actions could harm the economic welfare of the Fulanis.

Rising from their national and zonal consultative meeting in Abuja on Monday, the traditional leaders of the Fulani communities nationwide, Ardos, under the aegis of the Fulbe United for Peace and Development Association of Nigeria (FUPDAN) also urged President Tinubu to take action on the electoral promise he made to the Fulani community on the establishment of a livestock agency to cater for the migrant cattle rearers.

The President of, FUPDAN, the umbrella body of all Fulani associations in the country, Ardo Aliyu Liman Bobboi said the call for the president’s intervention in the plight of the Fulanis stemmed from the fact that the Ardos, numbering over 33,360 were the core mobilizers that helped to mount an intensive campaign for President Tinubu in his success in the presidential elections in 2023 in fulfilment of the traditional oath taken in February 2023 and delivered on election day.

On the issue of herding, Bobboi also explained that being the leaders of Fulani communities across the country, they are not averse to the stoppage of cattle grazing within cities and towns but the government should create avenues for a roundtable where the challenge would be holistically addressed with inputs from the community leaders.

He said: “The entire Ardos of the Fulbe United for Peace and Development commend the effort of the current administration in providing good leadership for the country.

Your support for Tinubu won’t be taken for granted, City Boy Movement DG assures.

“We recall the presence of then-candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a cold February evening on the campaign trail where he spent quality time interacting with Ardos from all the 36 States and Abuja towards a national movement that ensured massive votes for his candidacy within the Fulani community in Nigeria.

“It is with utmost pride that we recount the huge success recorded at the polls in 2023.

“The Fulbe group appreciates the President in the giant strides he is making in leading this great country and we are supportive of the good works he is doing.

“As a peace-loving group, dedicated to the peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians and the development of our country, we appeal to every Nigerian to be patient as all the efforts of this government will soon begin to manifest”.

However, FUPDAN expressed concern over the way the FCT Minister is treating Fulanis in the capital territory, citing the treatment of its patron, Sen. Ahmad Abubakar MoAllahyidi, the convener of Arewa New Agenda, who is also the Managing Director (MD) of the Integrated Facility Management Services IFMSL Ltd, the managers of the International Conference Center (ICC) Abuja and the Ministers position on cattle grazing within the FCT without due process as instances of the minister’s high handedness against the Fulani community.

“We the Fulbe have witnessed ethnic profiling from many people who found themselves in certain positions over the years before your arrival.”

Sule said the deal would help keep the company’s lithium processing factory operational while protecting jobs created by the investment. > “We are going to keep your factory functional, and we also have an interest as license owners in whatever you are doing in your company. More importantly, the people you have employed will remain employed,” the governor said. According to Channels Television, the governor said the state moved quickly to secure the relevant mining licence to ensure continued access to raw materials and prevent another party from obtaining the licence. The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Margaret Elayo, expressed appreciation to the investors and said the partnership could encourage further investment in Nasarawa. The signing was witnessed by officials from the state Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency (NASIDA), Diamond New Energy and Ganfeng Lithium Industry Limited. Sule also urged the company to maintain peaceful relations with host communities and contribute to their development. He said the partnership had contributed to the completion of what he described as the largest lithium processing refinery in West Africa. The supplementary agreement allows the continued supply of lithium materials from the state government’s mining block to serve as feedstock for the refinery. Abdullahi said the arrangement was expected to create further employment opportunities for young people and women in Nasarawa. He added that the state would receive $2 million immediately upon signing, with additional revenues expected under the agreement. A representative of Diamond New Energy, David Siong, said the company remained committed to expanding its operations in Nasarawa, including local processing of resources, job creation and supporting economic development in host communities.
