The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened applications for its 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

According to Punch Newspapers, the online recruitment portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27.

INEC said the exercise is aimed at strengthening its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics to enhance the delivery of its constitutional responsibilities.

The commission is recruiting into three cadres: the Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08, and Executive Officer (Registration Officer) on Grade Level 07.

Professional cadre vacancies include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, relevant professional certifications where applicable, at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication and ICT skills.

Candidates applying for the Administrative Officer II position must hold a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, along with an NYSC certificate and proficiency in data management and ICT tools.

For the Executive Officer position, applicants must possess a National Certificate in Education or its equivalent, with basic computer, communication and organisational skills.

INEC said applicants must not be older than 35 years, must be physically and mentally fit, possess a valid certificate of state of origin, have no criminal conviction, be willing to serve anywhere in Nigeria, and demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.

The commission emphasised that the application process is free and warned candidates against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders would be disqualified and could face prosecution.

Interested applicants are required to create an account on the INEC recruitment portal, verify their email address, select their preferred vacancy, upload all required documents and submit their applications online. INEC noted that once a vacancy is selected, it cannot be changed, and only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.
