Nigerian troops recover 3,403 ammunition rounds, rescue 391 victims in nationwide operations.
Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have recovered more than 3,403 rounds of ammunition during coordinated operations across multiple theatres between 4 and 12 June 2026, according to The Guardian Nigeria.
The Defence Headquarters said the operations targeted terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups, resulting in the seizure of assorted weapons, 15 motorcycles, and over N2 million believed to be ransom money, alongside 10,000 CFA francs.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, stated that troops also destroyed illegal oil refining sites and recovered more than 5,000 litres of stolen petroleum products, including crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil.
He added that 391 kidnapped victims were rescued within the period, with several operations conducted across Borno, Niger and other affected regions.
In Borno State, troops recovered an eight-year-old boy, Ali Musa, who escaped from a terrorist enclave in Gwoza, alongside three women and children following sustained military pressure on insurgent camps.
In Niger State, Operation Savannah Shield troops dismantled suspected surveillance networks in Borgu Local Government Area, arresting a high-value informant at Kara Market, Wawa, based on intelligence-led operations.
Further arrests included five suspected terrorists and informants during separate raids along the Wawa Cantonment and Doro axis. Investigators also linked a recovered mobile phone to disturbing imagery of a beheaded victim dated May 2, 2026, suggesting possible terrorist activity.
The Defence Headquarters urged continued public cooperation, encouraging citizens to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies while assuring confidentiality.
