Petrol prices have climbed across major Nigerian cities, with some filling stations in Abuja now selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for as much as N1,450 per litre amid rising crude oil prices and increased supply costs.   According to TheCable, checks on Sunday showed several outlets in the Federal Capital Territory had adjusted their pump prices upwards. In Abuja, AY Shafa increased its price from N1,350 to N1,395 per litre, while Optima raised its price from N1,360 to N1,450. Empire filling station in Gwarinpa also moved from N1,370 to N1,450, while Mobil in Kubwa increased its price to N1,400 from N1,350. The increases were also recorded in Lagos. Conoil at Ikorodu Garage raised its price from N1,300 to N1,400 per litre, while an NNPC outlet at Berger moved from N1,299 to N1,380. Bovas in Berger increased its price from N1,280 to N1,400, while MRS in Okota moved from N1,310 to N1,395. TotalEnergies in Okota adjusted its price from N1,325 to N1,385, while AP in Ogba increased from N1,295 to N1,380. In Ibadan, Ocean Breeze filling station on Old Ife Road was selling petrol at N1,370 per litre, up from N1,300 a day earlier. The latest adjustments followed reported increases in ex-depot prices, including at the Dangote refinery, where the gantry price reportedly rose from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre. The price movement also comes as international crude oil prices climbed above $100 per barrel amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude was reported at $104 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $99 as of September 13. The Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route, has faced growing disruption as tensions involving Iran, the United States and other countries in the Gulf region escalate. TheCable reported that Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts on September 12 after explosions were heard off the coast of Iran’s Qeshm Island. The development followed attacks and counterattacks involving Iran, US forces and Iran-aligned Houthi fighters in Yemen. Saudi Arabia had also reported attacks on energy facilities in its southern region on September 8, with the incidents causing fires and temporarily disrupting some operations.
