Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has distributed 100 operational vehicles to security agencies across the state to strengthen patrols, improve emergency response and enhance the mobility of security personnel.

The vehicles were presented on Monday to the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services and local security outfits.

Oyebanji said the intervention was aimed at addressing the long-standing need for improved mobility among security agencies. He added that the vehicles would also support the eventual take-off of the proposed Ekiti State Police outfit.

The governor urged security personnel to increase patrols, maintain strategic visibility and respond more quickly to security incidents.

> “To whom much is given, much is expected,” Oyebanji said, urging the agencies to ensure there were no excuses, lapses or unprofessional conduct following the provision of the vehicles.

He also pledged continued financial and logistical support for security agencies in the state, saying the government would increase the capacity of state-owned security institutions.

Oyebanji called on security agencies to make greater use of available surveillance technology and work collaboratively rather than operating independently.

He said the latest intervention was part of his administration’s wider investment in security. According to him, the state had previously distributed patrol vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, bulletproof vests, helmets and other security equipment.

The governor also commended community security initiatives, local vigilante groups and traditional rulers for their role in protecting lives and property.

Oyebanji attributed the procurement of the vehicles partly to increased funding available to states following reforms supported by President Bola Tinubu.

He also urged Ekiti residents to support Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brig-Gen Ebenezer Ogundana (retd.), reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting residents and their property.
