Pastor Titilayo Adewale, a daughter of the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, has denied claims that she criticised the church’s leadership over the handling of her late father’s legacy.
According to Punch, Adewale dismissed as false a viral statement attributed to her, which alleged that she accused the church of sidelining her father’s contributions and claimed that many senior pastors were unaware he founded the RCCG.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page on Monday, Adewale said the circulating remarks did not originate from her.
“My attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to me regarding The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and the legacy of my father. I want to clarify that the statement attributed to me is not from me, either implicitly or explicitly,” she said.
Adewale stressed that her father never sought earthly recognition and would not have been concerned about whether his name or image appeared on church buildings or institutions.
She said his greatest legacy was the people he influenced rather than physical structures, adding that he consistently prioritised building lives over acquiring property.
Adewale also recalled that her father was reluctant to own personal property during his lifetime, making it unlikely that he would have desired public recognition through monuments or institutions.
She argued that the viral reports were intended to create unnecessary controversy and division rather than reflect the values of her father or the church.
Calling on those behind the reports to stop spreading false narratives, Adewale urged members of the church to remain focused on its mission.
She also expressed support for the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, praying for wisdom and strength for him, his family and the church’s leadership ahead of the church’s convention.
