President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.
The renewal of their appointments was announced by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the second tenure of both media executives will begin on October 20, 2026, after the expiration of their initial three-year appointments.
Tinubu appointed Dembos and Ali to lead the NTA and NAN respectively on October 20, 2023.
Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, is a veteran broadcaster who previously served as National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU). He also served as Executive Director of Marketing at the NTA before his appointment as Director-General.
He began his career with the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 and later rose through the ranks, serving as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano before retiring as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre in 2017.
Ali Mohammed Ali, a journalist and media manager with over three decades of experience, holds degrees in English, International Affairs and Mass Communications from Nigerian institutions.
Onanuga said President Tinubu urged both executives to continue justifying the confidence placed in them by strengthening their organisations and supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
