President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive the proposed State Police Bill for consideration on September 3, according to the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill.

The announcement was made on Monday by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who chairs the working group, during a briefing with journalists at the State House.

Gbajabiamila said the executive bill package is scheduled to be presented to the President on September 3. However, he revealed that the process has been adjusted to ensure a national consultation takes place before the President grants final approval.

He explained that after the consultation, the draft bill and supporting documents would be revised where necessary before being formally transmitted to the National Assembly for legislative consideration.

The proposed legislation is expected to provide the legal framework for the establishment of state police, a long-debated reform aimed at strengthening security and improving policing across Nigeria.
