Tunji-Ojo gifts Ondo APC N23m, four trucks of rice

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has given four trailers of rice, comprising 1,200 bags and N23 million in cash, to members of the All Progressives Congress across Ondo State in celebration of Christmas and the New Year.

According to a statement obtained by the press on Tuesday, the minister paid N1 million to each of the state’s 18 APC local government secretariats, while members of the party’s state leadership received N5 million.

According to the statement, Tunji-Ojo oversaw the smooth and efficient distribution of the four trailers of rice around the state.

“More so, the interior minister has also reached out to his immediate constituency in the Akoko North West and non-party members across Ondo State by gifting them two trailers of rice and an undisclosed amount of money,” the statement said.

The APC chieftains commended Tunji-Ojo for the gifts, saying no past minister from the state had extended such a gesture to them.

“I am most glad that we now have a minister who truly sees the entire state as his constituency. Tunji-Ojo deserves all appreciation for putting smiles on the faces of members and non-members of the APC in Ondo State,” the statement quoted one of the party stalwarts as saying.

A three-storey building under construction has collapsed in the Durumi 3 area near Abuja, leaving at least five people dead and 10 rescued alive, according to Punch Newspaper.   The incident happened on Saturday morning near Gudu Market, with emergency workers continuing efforts to reach people believed to still be trapped under the rubble. Search operations remained ongoing as responders combed through debris at the construction site in the Gudu district.   The statement was issued by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to Nyesom Wike, who confirmed the scale of the incident and said additional victims may still be under the wreckage.   The FCT Mandate Secretary of Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Adedolapo Fasawe, visited the scene and said Wike had directed that all injured victims receive free medical treatment. Emergency teams including the Federal Fire Service, security agencies, health workers and local volunteers were seen at the site as residents gathered anxiously nearby.   Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the collapse, while rescue operations continue.
