The United States has urged its citizens across parts of the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to depart as tensions continue to rise amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the US.

According to AFP, as reported by Channels Television, US embassies in Amman, Jerusalem and Baghdad issued security alerts warning Americans of a possible “unforeseen escalation” in the regional crisis.

The advisory urged US citizens to remain vigilant, monitor flight schedules and follow instructions from local authorities. It also warned of possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and other travel disruptions.

In Jordan, Americans were advised to avoid US military bases that have recently come under Iranian missile attacks. In Israel, the US Embassy encouraged citizens to identify the location of their nearest bomb shelter.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem described Iran as “unpredictable”, citing recent attacks carried out without warning and the expansion of strikes into areas not previously targeted, including Egypt.

The warning comes after a drone struck a US-owned gas vessel docked at an Egyptian port on Wednesday, causing a fire. Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation but have not identified those responsible.

Meanwhile, Iran accused Washington of escalating regional tensions and warned that any country providing a defensive shield for the United States could face the consequences of the conflict.

Iran and the United States have resumed overnight exchanges of fire following a brief lull in hostilities, although no fresh strikes were reported overnight between Friday and Saturday.

The current conflict began on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran. Tehran has since responded with missile and drone attacks across the region.
