Terry Bollea, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) legend popularly known as Hulk Hogan, has died at the age of 71.

WWE, the pro-wrestling promotion where he made his name, confirmed his death in a post on X on Thursday.

The legendary American pro-wrestler was pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida, US.

According to local authorities, medical personnel responded to an emergency call at Hogan’s residence at about 9:51 am.

“The nature of the call was for a cardiac arrest,” the authorities said.

Hogan was one of the most iconic figures on the WWE roster through the 1980s and early 1990s.

He was the primary driving force behind WWE’s global appeal during his active period with the company.

With his signature blonde moustache, bandana, yellow boots and bulging biceps, Hogan was globally revered throughout his spell with WWE.

He won six WWE championships during his career. Hogan headlined eight of WWE’s first nine WrestleMania events.

Hogan was embroiled in a racist scandal in 2015, and his contract with WWE was terminated.

He was reinstated into the WWE family in 2018 and was re-added to the company’s list of Hall of Famers.
