The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sealed facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel across the country over alleged involvement in rail sabotage and the vandalism of critical national infrastructure, according to The Punch.
The Corps said the action followed a court order obtained after the arrest of suspects and the recovery of vandalised railway materials allegedly traced to the company’s premises in Birnin Yero, Kaduna State.
NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi stated that the suspects are under investigation for conspiracy, theft, destruction of railway infrastructure, concealment of stolen property and alleged financing of terrorism.
He added that recovered railway sleepers and tracks have been handed over to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (Nigerian Railway Corporation) as exhibits for prosecution.
According to the Corps, some arrested staff allegedly confessed that stolen railway materials were melted and recycled into industrial products including nails and roofing sheets.
The NSCDC also said some foreign nationals linked to the case have been invited for questioning, while all implicated facilities will remain sealed pending the conclusion of investigations and prosecution.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical national assets and reducing economic sabotage across Nigeria, as rail vandalism continues to pose risks to transport safety and infrastructure development.
