The Nigerian Navy has warned members of the public against a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The warning was issued by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, in a statement on Monday.
According to him, the circulating notice was not authorised by the Nigerian Navy and should not be treated as an official recruitment announcement.
Folorunsho urged prospective applicants to be cautious and disregard recruitment information shared through unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised platforms.
He said all genuine information concerning Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories, would be communicated through the service’s authorised channels.
The Navy identified its official recruitment website as joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while navy.mil.ng remains its main official website.
The warning comes amid online claims concerning the supposed Batch 39 recruitment exercise. Recent third-party recruitment websites have also carried conflicting information about the status of Batch 39, making verification through official Navy channels particularly important.
Navy warns against recruitment payments
The Navy also warned members of the public not to make payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms claiming to be involved in its recruitment process.
Folorunsho stressed that the Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
He said the service was committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide accurate updates through its official communication channels.
Prospective applicants are therefore advised to verify any recruitment announcement directly through the Nigerian Navy’s official platforms before submitting personal information or making any payment.
