FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem ‘Goals’ unites Rema, LISA, Anitta

Afrobeats star Rema has joined forces with LISA and Anitta on “Goals”, the latest single from the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 album.   The track was released on Thursday through SALXCO UAM and Def Jam Recordings, alongside an official music video. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Cirkut, the song blends Afrobeats, K-pop and Latin pop influences. According to FIFA, the album is designed to connect fans worldwide through music and football ahead of the 2026 tournament. “The project mirrors the vibrancy and breadth of the global game, serving as a unifying platform where music and sport intersect, connecting fans, communities, and sounds from around the world,” FIFA said in a statement. Reacting to the collaboration, Rema described the song as a major cultural moment. “Three continents, one track… bringing all our sounds together like this is a big moment for music on the world stage,” he said. LISA said contributing to the official World Cup album was an exciting experience. “Music always unites people across the world, so it has been an honour to work with Anitta and Rema,” she said. Anitta also reflected on her emotional connection to the tournament. “My connection to the World Cup is deeply emotional. I’m Brazilian, after all, of course I have wonderful memories tied to the tournament,” she said. The trio are expected to perform “Goals” live for the first time during the opening ceremony at Los Angeles Stadium on June 12 before the United States’ opening match. “Goals” becomes the fifth release from the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album, following “Lighter”, “Por Ella”, “Echo” and “Illuminate”. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted across United States, Canada and Mexico.

Nigeria, Italy launch $5bn global education financing campaign

Nigeria and Italy have agreed to establish a joint working group to implement a Global Partnership for Education financing campaign aimed at mobilising $5bn for education worldwide.   The initiative, known as the “Multiply Possibility Campaign”, is expected to support learning opportunities for about 750 million children ahead of the Global Education Summit scheduled to hold in Rome in September 2026. According to a report by Punch Newspapers, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, disclosed the development during a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Roberto Mengoni, in Abuja. A statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the campaign is also projected to unlock an additional $10bn in domestic education financing by 2030. Odumegwu-Ojukwu said education remains a key priority under the administration of Bola Tinubu and described the upcoming summit as significant given Nigeria’s growing youth population. She noted that the partnership with Italy would help create opportunities for young people while addressing migration concerns through bilateral cooperation. “We are interested in what we can do to keep our youth within our shores in productive ways,” the minister said. Earlier, Mengoni stated that discussions also covered preparations for the summit, as well as collaboration in tourism, economic development and defence between both countries.
