Israel has donated the first batch of ambulances, medical equipment and wheelchairs to Nigeria in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and emergency response.
The donation was made by Israel’s national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, on behalf of the Israeli Government and received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Nkechi Ufochukwu, at the Port of Ashdod.
According to Channels Television, Ufochukwu expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that would support healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities.
The consignment includes fully equipped ambulances, modern medical devices and mobility aids such as wheelchairs.
The equipment is expected to be deployed to hospitals and emergency centres across Nigeria to support patient care and disaster response efforts.
Ufochukwu said the donation demonstrated Israel’s commitment to saving lives while strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
“We deeply appreciate Israel’s commitment to saving lives and deepening bilateral ties,” the ambassador said.
Officials from Magen David Adom, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Health and members of the Nigerian Embassy in Tel Aviv witnessed the handover.
The initiative is expected to further cooperation between Nigeria and Israel in healthcare, humanitarian assistance and technology transfer, while supporting Nigeria’s efforts to build a more resilient health system.
