City Boy Movement donates medical aid to Oyo abducted community

The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has donated medical supplies, cash support and scholarships to Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area following the recent abduction of pupils and teachers.

 

The donation was made during a condolence visit led by the group’s state director, Olufemi Onireti, who expressed optimism that the abducted victims would soon be freed as security operations continue.

Scores of teachers and pupils were abducted on 15 May 2026 in coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, triggering widespread concern across Oyo State.

Onireti said the donated medical equipment and healthcare supplies were aimed at strengthening basic healthcare services in the affected community, while urging residents to remain hopeful and supportive of ongoing rescue efforts.

He also announced a cash donation of ₦1 million to the family of late teacher Michael Oyedokun, who died in the incident, alongside scholarships for his two sons.

Traditional leader, High Chief Tajudeen Abioye, the Elesinele of Esiele, commended both federal and state authorities for their response, while urging faster action to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers.

Government representatives have reportedly assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the victims.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the development as a “dark moment” for Katsina State, adding that the government remained committed to strengthening the fight against banditry and improving security across affected communities. Security agencies had reportedly made several attempts to rescue the retired general, but these efforts were unsuccessful. The state government expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed its collaboration with federal authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
