A powerful windstorm has destroyed houses and food storage facilities across several communities in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, leaving residents counting heavy losses.
The disaster struck on Wednesday night, affecting communities including Sambera, Jeroki, Becinga, Nassarawa, Tunga Soja, Tauken Mage, Tunga Muminu Oro and Ciwan Wanzam.
According to Channels Television, the windstorm damaged numerous homes, food storage structures and valuables belonging to residents. Despite the scale of destruction, residents confirmed that no lives were lost.
The member representing Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, visited the affected communities to assess the damage and sympathise with victims.
“My heart goes out to you in this difficult moment, and I urge you to accept it as a trial from Almighty Allah,” the lawmaker told residents during the visit.
Maisudan assured victims that he would present the situation to Governor Nasir Idris and the State House of Assembly to facilitate urgent support.
He was accompanied by officials of the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, who pledged immediate intervention for affected residents.
A SEMA official said the Kebbi State Government would soon provide relief materials to ease the hardship caused by the disaster.
