The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) as lawmakers formally began their probe.
According to Channels Television, the 12-member committee commenced its investigation on Monday into the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the disputed agency and how it was included in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Lawmakers are also examining the alleged allocation of ₦1.3 billion to the PFIPC, which members of the House have described as an illegal government agency.
The investigation follows allegations made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who describes himself as the PFIPC’s director-general. He claimed that the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, demanded a 48 per cent kickback from the agency’s proposed ₦27.3 billion take-off grant. Adeyemi further alleged that ₦400 million was paid through a proxy and that an additional ₦200 million was requested to facilitate presidential approvals.
Gbajabiamila has denied the allegations. In a statement on oath, he said he had no personal, official or professional relationship with Adeyemi and rejected claims that he demanded or received money, abused his office or interfered with any law enforcement agency.
The House committee’s investigation is expected to determine the legality of the PFIPC’s establishment, its inclusion in the 2026 budget and the circumstances surrounding the funding approved for the agency.
