Newly appointed Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Segun Aina, has unveiled a five-year development agenda aimed at transforming the examination body into Africa’s most trusted and technology-driven admissions institution by 2031.
The plan, titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” was announced on Monday, according to a statement issued by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin and reported by TheCable.
Aina, a professor of computer engineering who officially assumed office on Monday after succeeding Ishaq Oloyede, said the strategy would build on the reforms introduced during his predecessor’s 10-year tenure while introducing new technology and governance measures.
The development agenda is structured around what Aina described as “Project 2:5:7,” consisting of two strategic objectives, five core pillars and seven flagship initiatives designed to strengthen JAMB’s operations.
The five pillars are integrity, service, governance, technology and partnership, with integrity serving as the foundation of the reform programme.
Among the key initiatives announced are:
An independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure.
ISO 27001 information security certification.
Development of a unified JAMB mobile app.
Strategic communication and brand repositioning.
A unified customer service platform.
A paperless digital administration system.
Enhanced staff welfare and capacity development.
Aina said the board would also strengthen institutional governance through improved performance monitoring, better contract management and greater operational resilience.
He added that JAMB would expand its in-house digital infrastructure to improve decision-making and service delivery while increasing collaboration with financial institutions.
The registrar stressed that although technology would drive the reforms, the board’s workforce remained its greatest asset. He urged staff to embrace innovation, professionalism and teamwork, saying strong institutions are built by people united around shared values.
Aina reaffirmed his commitment to building systems that would outlive individuals, strengthen public confidence and position JAMB as a global benchmark in technology-driven examinations and admissions.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Aina as JAMB’s substantive registrar on May 21, making the 40-year-old the youngest person to lead the examination body.
