Nigerian filmmaker Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported nomination to the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council in Lagos State, saying she is staying out of politics.
Her name appeared in a list shared by the media team of Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The list contained several entertainers appointed to the campaign council’s entertainment and creative economy directorate.
Lawyer Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named director of the directorate, while actor Jide Kosoko was appointed co-director and Eniola Badmus deputy director.
Other entertainers listed included Biola Adebayo, Bimbo Akintola, Yinka Quadri, Foluke Daramola, Abbey Lanre and Fathia Balogun.
Adewale Ayuba, Abass Akande Obesere, Saheed Osupa, Adebayo Salami, Bukky Wright, Sule Alao Malaika and Small Doctor were also listed.
However, Abraham took to X to deny that she is part of the campaign council.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently; I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
According to TheCable Lifestyle, Abraham had in 2024 said she would no longer publicly disclose her political affiliation after facing backlash over her support for President Bola Tinubu.
In April 2026, she was also named on the entertainment committee for the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026, organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
