Team Nigeria, represented by students from Taraba State, has emerged winner of an international debate championship held in Rwanda after defeating the host nation in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel of judges.
The team delivered an impressive performance throughout the competition, earning praise for their confidence, eloquence, teamwork and well-structured arguments. Observers at the event described the Nigerian delegation’s presentations as exceptional, citing their strong preparation and articulate delivery across all rounds.
According to a report by The Guardian Nigeria, the victory has been linked to ongoing educational reforms in Taraba State under Agbu Kefas, particularly the free education policy introduced by the state government.
Stakeholders also credited the efforts of the Chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, Christiana Taninga Binga, for supporting policies aimed at improving access to quality education and developing students capable of competing globally.
The achievement has been celebrated as a reflection of the intellectual potential of Nigerian youths when given the right support and opportunities. Team leaders, coordinators and supporters of the Nigerian delegation were also commended for their contributions to the success.
The victory is being viewed as a proud moment for both Taraba State and Nigeria within the international academic community.
