Seven students have been abducted by armed bandits in Zamfara State following a pre-dawn attack on their residences in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.

According to Channels Television, the attackers struck at about 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Low-Cost Area on the outskirts of Kaura Namoda, forcibly taking the students to an unknown location.

The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incident, revealing that one of the kidnapped students managed to escape and has been reunited with authorities.

Police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar said joint tactical police teams and military personnel attached to Operation Fansar Yamma were swiftly deployed after reports of the abduction were received. However, the assailants had already fled before security operatives arrived at the scene.

Abubakar stated that security agencies have intensified search-and-rescue operations to secure the safe release of the remaining abducted students and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also appealed to residents to remain calm and provide credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to locate the victims.

The police command assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to rescue the students safely and promised to provide updates as the operation progresses.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over attacks on schools and students in parts of northern Nigeria. It comes days after concerns were raised over the abduction of pupils and teachers in other states.

Channels Television reported that security forces continue to pursue leads aimed at rescuing the victims and restoring calm to the affected community.
