Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, the US rapper, has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after he was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution.

The sentence was handed to the 55-year-old music executive on Friday by Arun Subramanian, the presiding judge, at the New York courthouse.

The judge praised the rapper for his many accomplishments before his sentencing.

“However, the court has to consider all of your history here,” Subramanian said.

The judge also criticised Diddy with respect to his relationships with Cassie Ventura and Jane Doe, women who accused him of forcing them to have sex with male escorts for his pleasure.

“You abused them,” Subramanian told Combs. “Physically, emotionally and psychologically…”

“I know you feel you are in a dark place right now, but the crimes committed were serious. You and your family, you are going to get through this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Subramanian also praised Ventura and Jane Doe as “strong women” who were willing to come forward and tell their stories.

“We heard you. I am proud of you for coming to the court to tell what really happened,” he said.

The music executive was convicted of flying people across the US for sexual encounters he called “freak-offs”, including his girlfriends and male sex workers.

Combs was arrested in September 2024 after more than 120 accusers, including a minor, came forward with allegations of kidnapping, blackmail, abuse and prostitution-related crimes.

In July, a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution linked to encounters with Ventura and Jane.

He was, however, acquitted of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and racketeering conspiracy.

Earlier this week, federal prosecutors requested an 11-year sentence, describing Combs as “unrepentant” and leaving his victims in fear.

His defense team, however, pushed for 14 months, which is equivalent to the time already served since his arrest in 2024.

For about 14 months, Diddy has been locked up at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

Soldiers raid UNIOSUN hostels, students allege assault and seizure of phones

Military personnel from the Army Depot in Osogbo have been accused of invading student hostels at the University of Osun (UNIOSUN), allegedly assaulting students and confiscating dozens of mobile phones.   According to TheCable, the incident occurred on Monday night and affected several off-campus hostels near the university. Speaking during a visit to the affected hostels on Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor Clement Adeboye said the university had formally reported the incident to the management of the Army Depot. “We have reported to the management of the depot. It is sad that the Army Depot, located close to the campus, which we felt would give us security cover, could eventually release men that will subject our students to this kind of harrowing experience,” he said. UNIOSUN spokesperson Ademola Adesoji alleged that more than 20 students had been identified as victims of the operation. He claimed some female students reported being stripped and indecently touched by the soldiers, while several male students were also assaulted. Adesoji said two students were hospitalised following the incident, with one discharged on Tuesday morning. He further alleged that the soldiers seized more than 60 devices, including mobile phones, from the students. “Over 60 gadgets, including phones, were seized from the students. Five of the perpetrators were identified and brought to the campus this morning,” Adesoji told TheCable. “But they were later returned to the military base. The army division said they would be dismissed. “The VC has taken the matter up with the army authority. We can’t confirm the alleged rape yet.” There has been no official response from the Nigerian Army at the time of filing this report.
