The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons following a kidnapping incident in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a report by Channels Television, the victims were abducted on 3 June 2026 at about 7:30am while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school. Security agencies later launched an operation that led to their rescue on Saturday night.

The Adelabu family confirmed that the rescued victims have since been reunited with relatives. The family also expressed appreciation to security agencies and members of the public for their support throughout the ordeal.

A source within the police disclosed that two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun duel with operatives involved in the rescue mission. Two firearms were also recovered from the gang.

The incident occurred weeks after a separate mass abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, which heightened public concern over insecurity in the region.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had previously visited the Adelabu family and assured them that efforts to secure the victims’ release were being intensified.

The rescued victims are now reported to be safe and back with their family.
