Arsenal’s long-awaited Premier League triumph sparked scenes of celebration across north London on Sunday as thousands of supporters lined the streets to mark the club’s first league title in 22 years.

The open-top bus parade came just days after the Gunners were confirmed champions of England, ending a title drought that stretched back to 2004. According to Channels Television, fans dressed in the club’s iconic red and white colours packed the streets around the Emirates Stadium, waving flags, chanting and setting off flares as they celebrated the achievement.

Supporters climbed trees, rooftops and traffic lights to catch a glimpse of manager Mikel Arteta and his players as they displayed the Premier League trophy.

Arsenal secured the title on 19 May after second-placed Manchester City were held to a draw by AFC Bournemouth, confirming the Gunners as champions.

The celebrations followed a bittersweet weekend for the club. Arsenal had hoped to complete a historic double by winning the UEFA Champions League, but suffered heartbreak in Budapest on Saturday after losing a penalty shootout to Paris Saint-Germain.

After a 1-1 draw following extra time, missed penalties from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães allowed PSG to retain the European title. Kai Havertz had given Arsenal an early lead before Ousmane Dembélé equalised from the penalty spot.

Despite the Champions League disappointment, Arsenal fans embraced the league success, recognising a campaign that saw the club finally end three consecutive seasons as runners-up.

The parade covered a nine-kilometre route around the Emirates Stadium area in Islington and featured four buses. One of the buses carried Arsenal Women, who celebrated their own success after winning the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup in February.

The event highlighted a memorable season for both Arsenal’s men’s and women’s teams, with supporters turning out in huge numbers to celebrate one of the club’s most successful campaigns in recent history.
