The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed that three security operatives were killed during a violent NIPSS attack in Kuru in the early hours of Monday, according to a statement issued in Jos.

The confirmation was made by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, who described the incident as a serious security breach at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in Plateau State.

According to the police statement, the operatives were on duty when gunmen struck the facility.

“Regrettably, three security personnel lost their lives during the incident,” the command said, adding that reinforcement teams have since been deployed to secure the area.

The police also confirmed that patrols around the institution and surrounding communities have been intensified under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah.

Authorities said the situation has been brought under control, with normal activities reportedly resuming in the area. Investigations are ongoing, and the command urged residents to remain calm.

NIPSS Kuru, Nigeria’s foremost policy training institution for senior public officials, has previously been regarded as a highly secured facility, making the attack one of the most significant recent security incidents in the area.

The police said further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.
