Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over worsening economic hardship, insecurity and rising hunger across Nigeria.

In remarks reported by The Guardian Nigeria, Obi urged the Tinubu administration to stop offering excuses and focus on delivering practical solutions to the country’s economic and security challenges.

The former Anambra State governor said Nigerians were becoming increasingly frustrated as millions continue to battle soaring food prices, inflation, unemployment and insecurity.

According to Obi, effective leadership should produce visible improvements in the lives of citizens, stressing that governance requires accountability, compassion and measurable results.

He also argued that rather than defending government policies, the Federal Government should prioritise rebuilding public trust, stabilising the economy and improving security nationwide.

Obi warned that Nigerians were closely watching how political leaders respond to the country’s challenges as discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

His comments have sparked reactions on social media and within political circles. Supporters described his remarks as reflecting public frustration over the state of the economy, while critics accused him of politicising national issues.
