Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer and called for the exposure of those financing terrorism across the country.

According to The PUNCH, Akpabio made the remarks on Sunday during an inter-denominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, held as part of activities marking Democracy Day.

He said Nigeria had survived decades of political crises, insurgency, pandemics and economic turbulence, stressing that the nation must continue to seek divine intervention while confronting insecurity.

Reflecting on his time as governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio recalled introducing monthly prayer sessions to address kidnapping, militancy and violent crime, saying collective prayer remained essential in times of insecurity.

He called for unity and resilience, while insisting that individuals behind insecurity, whether in government or outside it, should be exposed.

The Senate President acknowledged ongoing security challenges, including kidnappings and attacks on communities, and said efforts must continue to secure the release of abducted persons nationwide.

He also reiterated support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, while government officials present at the service echoed calls for national cooperation.
