Protesters took to the streets of Lagos on Friday during renewed EndBadGovernance demonstrations, calling for urgent government action on insecurity, economic hardship and rising living costs.

The rally, held on Democracy Day, drew activists, civil society organisations and concerned residents who marched peacefully through parts of the city. Demonstrators carried placards with messages such as “Free All Captives Now”, “End Anti-People Policies Now” and calls for improved wages and job creation.

The protest in Lagos comes against the backdrop of recent mass abductions in Oyo and Borno states, which have heightened public concern over national security.

Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana was present at the demonstration, joining calls for reforms and stronger governance responses to insecurity and economic pressures.

Also in attendance was rapper and activist Falz, who urged authorities to prioritise the protection of schools and vulnerable communities across the country.

Security personnel were deployed at the scene as the protest proceeded peacefully. Alongside the demonstrators, a separate group emerged expressing support for ongoing government reforms, carrying banners such as “Better Days Ahead for Nigeria”.
