Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, identified as Kachalla Halilu, during an intelligence-led operation at Shinkafi Weekly Market in Zamfara State, according to a report by TheCable.

The arrest was carried out by soldiers of the 8 Division Garrison following credible intelligence that the suspect had been sighted in the market. Security sources cited by counter-insurgency platform Zagazola Makama said troops moved swiftly to the location and apprehended him without resistance.

Items reportedly recovered from the

suspect include a motorcycle, a mobile phone, a cap, and livestock medication. The sources added that the suspect and recovered items have been transferred to military intelligence for further investigation.

Authorities say the arrest is part of ongoing military operations aimed at dismantling armed criminal networks operating across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West.

Zamfara remains one of the states most affected by banditry and violent crime, with security forces intensifying intelligence-led raids and targeted operations in recent months.
