Residents across Nigeria’s North East have been urged to remain vigilant following a fresh Eid El Kabir terror warning issued by the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation HADIN KAI, according to a report by Channels Television.

The JTF cautioned that Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) may attempt to exploit the Eid festivities to launch isolated attacks targeting civilians, particularly in crowded public spaces.

In a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), the military said intelligence suggests possible use of suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the celebration period.

The task force noted that troops have been deployed across vulnerable and high-risk areas, with Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets fully activated to strengthen security coverage ahead of the festivities.

It added that patrols have been intensified in coordination with sister security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and community vigilance groups to prevent any security breaches during the holiday period.

As part of the advisory, residents were encouraged to hold Eid prayers and celebrations close to their homes where possible and avoid large gatherings in open spaces. The JTF also urged heightened caution in markets, motor parks, banking halls, and prayer grounds.

Members of the public were further advised to report suspicious movements, unattended items, or unusual activities to the nearest security post, while avoiding the spread of unverified information capable of causing panic.

The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its readiness to maintain stability throughout the period, stating that troops remain on standby to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure a peaceful Eid celebration across the region.
