President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in two new ministers at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, completing recent changes in his cabinet following Senate confirmation.

The appointees are Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, who takes office as Minister of Power, and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Their swearing-in followed Senate clearance on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, after nominations submitted by the President.

According to a statement cited by Channels Television, the brief ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in the presence of the ministers’ spouses and senior government officials.

The appointments follow the resignation of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions.

Joseph Tegbe, a fiscal and institutional reform strategist with over 35 years of experience, previously worked in advisory roles at KPMG Africa and participated in reforms across Nigeria’s economic and energy sectors. He also holds degrees in civil engineering, business administration and public administration.

Sola Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat from Kogi State, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose to Permanent Secretary before retiring in 2017. He has served in several Nigerian missions abroad, including Ethiopia, Canada, Serbia and the United Kingdom.

The Presidency said both appointments are expected to strengthen coordination in the power sector reforms and Nigeria’s foreign relations strategy.
